Bought this on sale so the value was good but I remember why I sold my first go pro. The app that is out now for GoPro is absolutely atrocious. Everything in the app is pretty much stuck behind a paywall and the app barely ever functions as you need it to. Connecting your camera to the app is the most frustrating 20 minutes of your life. The camera would be worth it if you didn’t need the app for it to function.

What I dislike was the GoPro membership. $50 a year and there are some mods and mounts where the membership gives you a $15 discount. I really only needed two accessories: the media mount and the 3-way, tripod, selfie-stick. Saved me $30. Maybe the software will prove to have value.

I have had a GoPro 7 Black for a while and bought this GoPro 9 as an upgrade. My primary reason to upgrade was for the in-camera horizon leveling, which is really great with the 9, and not a feature of the 7 or 8 (you have to do horizon leveling in the Quik app for 8). Horizon leveling in the GoPro 9 has finally achieved footage right out of the camera that looks like it's on an expensive gimbal. It's exactly what I need for my purposes. So it works for me. However, other than that, what's notable to me is how the 9 does not feel at all like much of an improvement over the 7. The 9 is not significantly better than the 7, and I don't think it's worth the extra money for most people. If you don't care so much about horizon leveling, I don't see why you would choose the 9 over the 8 or even the 7. I certainly don't see why you would spend $550 on a 10. And with the competition from the DJI Action, there's actually even less of a reason than ever to choose GoPro over the other action cameras on the market today. I like the 9 and it works for my purposes, but I feel like I'm paying a premium for the GoPro brand name and not really getting the features and quality you can reasonably expect in 2022 for this price. In fact, if the next iteration of DJI Action includes horizon leveling, I may abandon GoPro altogether and switch over to DJI. My advice to GoPro: Stop focusing so much on trying to push your subscription service nobody really wants and re-focus on your roots of creating the best action camera on the market. Make big, innovative improvements on your product instead of just trying to release minuscule improvements every year. Even if it means you're only releasing a new version every 2 or 3 years. Fire the consultants and MBAs working for you that are pushing you to cut costs and overspend on marketing at the expense of your quality and reputation. DJI is hot on your heels. People want to buy the best action camera on the market for the money. Will that be you in a few years, or will it be DJI? At your current pace, my money's on DJI. The camera itself is very good, but I'm giving it 3 stars because it is only a minor improvement over the 7, and I know GoPro could do better if they decided to. GoPro used to be synonymous with the best and most innovative action cameras on the market, but I'm not sure that's true anymore.

Made a few videos with it already and they’re awesome. My only reason I gave it a 4 star is because I can’t figure out why it constantly turns itself on. Drains the battery so fast that I have to take it out in between uses. If anyone has the solution to fix this please lmk.

Overall it's an excellent little camera that is well made. Image stabilization is quite good and video quality is excellent. But there are a few issues. Battery life is not very good. You can expect realistically to only get about 40 minutes out of a fully charged battery. I really expected better from an action camera like this, but I knew that going into this. This thing gets hot. I mean seriously hot. Not to the point where it will burn fingers, but it will get hot enough that it is uncomfortable to touch. Electronic equipment can quickly degrade and fail if temperatures get too hot, so if the outer case is getting this hot the components inside must be getting much, much warmer. This makes me wonder just how long this thing is going to hold up under extended use. Trying to use the camera by using only the tiny touch screen on the back is more than awkward. The app you are encouraged to download and install on your phone to control the camera is a problem. It seems all it really does is try to force me to subscribe to cloud services and editing software I neither want nor need.

This little go pro has been with me now on 3 flights. I have got to say, the capabilities and the image/video quality of this camera is astonishing. Having the ability to steam live content is the sole reason my family got to experience my first solo flight from the cockpit and see everything crystal clear! The touch screen is REALLY touchy but the camera itself I can’t express how pleased and satisfied I am with the image stabilization, audio clarity, and the 4k resolution.

I use it underwater and it works great with good pic qaulity. Just make sure to check your video speed before recording

This is a wonderful camera and has lots of functions. This camera is durable and withstands lots of abuse from the user without breaking. The cost is slightly higher than others but makes up in durability and performance. It's hard to beat GoPro products.
